Most of the horses at Whipalong were at some stage exposed to either neglect or abuse,
the latter of which has resulted in nervous character traits.
With perseverance and patience even the most 'broken' horse can show improvement
over a period of time. They are extremely forgiving and willing to please.

seek shelter but at least one can try!" (Anonymous)
Case studies:
-
Captain Hook, suffering from neglect, was brought to Whipalong for care. He was malnourished
and badly infested with ticks. Of particular concern was a wound on his hind leg which had
turned septic as a result of untreated tick bite.

We received a call reporting a case of a horse suffering from
severe neglect. We found Harry's Fun in a tidy paddock with a plentiful supply of
grass and fresh water. Despite this, he was severely malnourished. On closer
examination, Harry was found to have a rotten and deformed front tooth.
He was in extreme pain and unable to feed.
